Improvisation teaches students to think faster, be a confident public speaker, taps into the comedic voice, think more creatively, perform better in auditions, and to laugh and have fun! Whether you’re brand-new to improv or just want to brush up on skills, this class can help to further development in a dynamic, entertaining, and highly satisfying way.
Through monologues and some scene work, this class will explore the challenges for every actor in “growing through a role” rather than “finding a role”. It will encourage and nurture the communication skills of an actor rather than the performance skills of an actor. There will be some home-work and possible scene-work with a partner outside of class. Come with the desire to work and learn through collaboration with the instructor.
Learn vocal techniques, warm-up exercises, microphone etiquette, how to approach the copy (your script), different avenues of Voice Over to explore, where (and where NOT) to go after jobs, and so much more. Then, you’ll step up to the mic and try out what you’ve learned.
