Sister Act Reunion Press Release
Sister Act Reunion Cocktail
Every Thursday New Stage will release a Virtual Play Reading or a New Stage Dialogue. The plays will be original new works presented as part of the Eudora Welty New Plays Series or Mississippi themed plays for the Mississippi Play Series. The New Stage Dialogue will include conversations with New Stage artists and community partners on a variety of topics in relation to New Stage productions. The virtual series continues New Stage’s mission to develop original, and Mississippi themed work, and enables the theatre to keep employing artists. These online experiences are a project of the new Thursday Night Plays, Conversations & Cocktails with New Stage Theatre Series that debuts in September! We’ll also share a signature cocktail recipe that connects to the evening’s play or topic. These will all be ONLINE events. To register for these FREE (donations welcome!) events, simply click to our Box Office. Registration is Required. Receive a direct link to that night’s online experience by noon on the day of the performance. Let’s gather together!
New Stage Theatre continues Thursday Nights Virtual Plays, Conversations, & Cocktails with a celebration of one of New Stage Theatre’s most popular shows in recent history, the production of the 53rd season blockbuster Sister Act on Thursday, September 24 at 7 p.m.
The event will include scenes and photos from the show, a behind the scenes look at the production with special guests William (Peppy) Biddy, Sister Act director; Carol Joy Sparkman, Sister Act musical director; and Caleb Blackwell, Sister Act costume designer, and a visit with members of the show’s company included Kimberly Morgan Myles, Ray McFarland, Jessica Wilkinson, Andrew Fehrenbacher, Leslie Ann Harkins, Cynthia Stuart, Taylor Galvin, Andre Dion Wills, Andrew Coleman, Xerron Mingo, Cameron Pitre, Kathlyn Arcemont, Chris Roebuck, and many more!
Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions through the chat feature. The virtual series continues New Stage’s mission to develop original, and Mississippi themed work, and enables the theatre to keep employing artists.
“When we produced Sister Act as the closing show in our 53rd Season, I remember it being a very enjoyable time at New Stage,” said Artistic Director Francine Thomas Reynolds. “The work was hard, but the atmosphere was fun. I look forward to hearing the voices of the company again. Our virtual NST Dialogue Raising Our Voices: Sister Act Reunion is the perfect joyful alternative to the pandemic blues.”
Sister Act is the feel-amazing musical comedy smash that tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look—a convent! Under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship.
