Every Thursday New Stage will release a Virtual Play Reading or a New Stage Dialogue. The plays will be original new works presented as part of the Eudora Welty New Plays Series or Mississippi themed plays for the Mississippi Play Series. The New Stage Dialogue will include conversations with New Stage artists and community partners on a variety of topics in relation to New Stage productions. The virtual series continues New Stage’s mission to develop original, and Mississippi themed work, and enables the theatre to keep employing artists. These online experiences are a project of the new Thursday Night Plays, Conversations & Cocktails with New Stage Theatre Series that debuted in September! We’ll also share a signature cocktail recipe that connects to the evening’s play or topic. These will all be ONLINE events.

NEW: A limited number of free tickets will be available by contacting the box office at 601-948-3533 or tickets@newstagetheatre.com. Online tickets will be by suggested donation only ($5, $10 or $25) and are available by simply clicking to our Box Office or call 601-948-3533. Registration is Required. Receive a direct link immediately. Let’s gather together!

New Stage Theatre continues Thursday Nights Virtual Plays, Conversations, & Cocktails with a play reading of Paper Thin by T.K. Lee. Lucrece and Gerald have had a good marriage, in Lucrece’s opinion. Late in life, they had a child— just the one — like they’d planned, and now, after watching Gerald recover from heart surgery, Lucrece reminds Gerald of another thing they’d planned on: Getting a divorce. Lucrece has made her mind up; Gerald is being dogged about it at every turn (he did promise after all!); and their son, Charlie, who has just found out, isn’t so sure he can live with it. Set on the roof of Lucrece and Gerald’s house, on a dying family farm in the small red clay hills of east Mississippi, Lucrece explains how Life Goes On to her son, over a bottle of whiskey, and the importance of finally winning at the game of What If.

Mr. Lee will be joining the company for a post reading discussion. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments through the chat feature. The virtual series continues New Stage’s mission to develop original, and Mississippi themed work, and enables the theatre to keep employing artists.
